Tuesday 15. July 2008 One report
By: KlimBimTuesday the 15th of july 2008
The first week of the summer project 2008 has already past and it was a week with progress, even if the arrivals weren`t as high as expected. We are a group of 23 German, Swiss and French journeymen by now, but as some more gave their promise to come, we`re expecting them to arrive any time.
We work together in our demonstration workshop, at Cetatii road and there are plenty projects in sight. The carpenters build a pavillion, where they first produce beams out of logs. The blacksmiths are dealing with the topic, to produce a security grid for the Casa Calfelor and to make tools for the stonemasons, who have the hands in different kind of renovations at the big church. The tailor workshop started yesterday and the piano which has to be fixed is taken apart in pieces. The cabinetmakers produce windows and they take care of other renovation steps, as building a set of stairs or a new ceiling lining for example, in the Casa Calfelor.
We have more in mind to do and other projects are planned, even as a matter of fact, that we had to face the chancelling of the big roof renovation, before we started. Because of bureaucratic problems getting authorization and the fact, that there isn`t dry timber to buy, we deferred the realisation to next years summer.
Three times a week we are working together with Romanian apprentice, who seem to be a lovely new generation of craftsmenship.
The evenings and weekends are made to get together, making excursions or visiting a rock festival like we did last weekend. „Rocking Transilvania“ was the name of the metal festival, we were invited to from the German consul and his wife and some took that chance. The others went on a cart race in close by Gusterita. And we also visit as much as we can our pub warden Domn Titi.
