Saturday 26. July 2008 Report from the 26th of july 2008

Another week is gone as we journeymen and Compagnons worked together, lived in exchange and enjoyed having a good time. Our two Swiss blacksmiths eventually make a new window grid for the panorama window in the hospice, to be save from burglars and they also forge needed tools.

There was also a meeting with a blacksmith from Sibiu, to share experiences and it could be another step, to increase the intercultural exchange during events in the future. Also our French coppersmith works hard to manufacture art roses, who are really extensive in design and production.

The carpenters still produce the pavillion and the cabinetmakers realised the extension of the kitchenet in the hospice, they also made new ceiling lining in the bathroom, as well as in the kittchen and they produced a set of stairs for the tower room. At the same time Casa Calfelor windows and doors were restaurated in the demonstration workshop and for Domn Titi`s Crama we built new tables.

Our tailor Ilka is starting to sew traditional robes, after she has quit giving another lifetime to the suits of several journeymen, with repairing them. The finished robes will be buyable, to have some money for renovating the hospice.

The stonemasons are still into the restoration of the church portal and they also modulate a dragon sculpture, who should be the sentinel of our wood in iron, where the journeymen tradition engages every journeymen, to bang into his own forged nail.

For the last time the young Romanian apprentice have been with us yesterday. We tried to make them reach some skills, as work was done in every participating trade in the demonstration workshop during last week.

The project of working together with the youth was quite a big enrichment for all, even developing own personality in passing knowledge. And who knows if this could have been the start, of restore the tradition of travelling in Romania, in the old fashioned guild ways. We hope to succeed this goal once, also as the success of our projects.

Beside all serious work we enjoy the time. We gather  having a beer in Crama in the evening or we make trips, like the one we did last weekend, as we were invited by Daniela, to go and stay some time in Marpod. We shared beautiful moments singing lot`s of French and German chansons under the night sky.
