We would like to invite all journeymen, to come to Sibiu for this year summer project. Once more we would like to rock in Transilvania.
The event takes place from the 26th of june, until the 30th of July 2010.
To invite the French Compagnons and to exchange experience of the way german journeymen are travelling, a meeting in Toulouse is set up for the 19th till the 20th of june. Afterwards we would like to travel from the 22nd until the 28th of june together to Sibiu.
The Casa Calfelor is open for journeymen all year.
The time is worth spend travelling in Romania. Not only culture exchange, but also challenging todays building sides. There`s a lot to do and talent is needed, to improve solutions and to live old school fashioned Tradition, in the style of Handcrafts. Everything or every nothing. This is how it goes round here.
This is what we have in mind to do in summer:
To go on with the renovation in the Casa Calfelor.
After several years of fighting with bureaucracy it seems that we are able now to take another step in the record of renovations. First of all, the carpenters have to start, with building a new tier of beams, isolated and the new floor has to be made. Therfore it would be a big step forward, if some Compagnons and Gesellen could already start to work in the begining of june! Beside this, always works come along during daytime.
Classes for journeymen
In summer 2009 some of the journeymen wanted to increase their knowledge in learning, realising old skills and get it done now a days. We want to set up a class for stair design and the work with mud. Beside theoretical things we want to engage new knowledge in our renovation progress. In Casa Calfelor and where else it is needed! If you are interested to get involved in those kind of classes, tell us some time before. Go for it!
Cultural intercourse with Romania
We try to find a project to engage young interested people, to build something together. It is always our own will to share knowledge and experience in our crafts with the Romanians, to make sure that hunger of learning the trades is always a stable constant in life. What happens in this case naturally depend on us.
The demonstration workshop
Last years experience was always the success of representing our traditional crafts in this open air workshop. In this case we hope to spread lot of interests in diferent kind of crafts, . It is always the best representing in the visual demonstration. Come along in summer to Sibiu, because for us it should also be a possibility, to get more feeling for our familiar but unknown kind of crafts. We`re well prepared in wood, stone, metal tools, but we appreciate if you bring along your typical kind of tools. For the special kind of crafts, like wood carvers and tailors, we have to arrange a workshop for you, and therefore we need to be right in time. Please tell us if you are interested in!
We aprreciate all Blacksmiths and metal workers to come, because without you, it doesn`t seems well with the blacksmith workshop. Let`s give it a Try!
As part of the demonstration workshop we run an exhibition, who describes facts and stories, about the developed way, of getting to know and getting to share, different kind of handcrafts! It shows ways of travelling, the meaning of the association and the cultural meaning with live in that tradition. Pictures and models, as well as representative live demonstrations will be an investment to not being thirsty!
Belonging tWo the work experience, it will also be Romania, to live. If you lost willing and thoughts about serious work in life, you take a trip on the outskirts. Up to the mountains or right next to the sea. Authentic Romania you develop outside the city, where you get to know to the folks living their life as inhabits of nature. To ride a train, or to take an horse carriage, an adventure being one for memories. There is a line set up for festivals. We see it in a way for all kind of mind stages, to come to Sibiu.
Go for the way, the travel together to Sibiu!
