By: KlimBimWe, the VoKo want to cordially invite all travelling journeymen to come to Sibiu this summer to rock Transylvania once more. The period of time for the project is from july 5th until the 6th of august.
Works for summer 2010
Casa Calfelor:
- New construction of diverse shelves and stackers
- Window dismantling and installation / pigeon-lattice assembling
- Miscellaneous...
Works for the church:
- Stone works at the church
- Plenty of jobs, retiling roofs
Miscellaneous:
- Rearrangement and redesign of isolated steps in a stone stair
- New construction of an access balcony
- Dismantling / installation of windows and doors
- Fabrication of a metal railing … or only the assembling
- For the organ builder Binder a small timber-framed addition with wooden lagging, window installation and the construction of a gate, tier of beams, wooden floor… because he had supported us generous in the last years with tools and his workshop
- And thousand small matters as usual, which come along in time...
The association meeting happens at the 7th/8th of august and afterwards we are going to celebrate the retire party of Klimmbimmski (free travelling piano builder Stefan Walter) with all charges on him!
Feuilleton Romania
We try to accomplish a building side of public utility and we attempt to work with the youth again. In this case it is our aim to explicate our knowledge and the work experience in various trades especially to young Romanians, to account for learning a trade to them. In what way this will happen certainly is up to you too.
In the last couple of years the kind of representing our trades in the course of a demonstration workshop to the people succeed pretty well. Naturally we hope that as much as possible different trades find their way to Sibiu, to arrange this part in a fascinating way.
We`re well endowed with wood, stone and metal tools. But for special trades as wood carvers, tailors and so on, we have to establish a workshop together and that`s why it is important, that you contact us as soon as possible. Specially we would be happy about metal workers, because without a blacksmith our smith`s heart and the anvil feel lonesome, unfortunately. Therefore come along!
Beside the demonstration workshop we will have an exhibition, in which we introduce the traditional walk, the various travelling trades, the different journeymen societies and our activities as an association in Romania to the people.
In addition to the distinct projects there will be enough time to discover Romania. At excursions into the heartland you will meet the cordial and remain unsettled rural population. Even if you go by train or hitch-hike with an horse-drawn carriage it will be an amusing small adventure. Also a lot of festivals happen in summertime. We guarantee there is something to find for everyone of you in Romania.
One week before the project starts, on june 26th/27th some journeymen will meet four Compagnon-Itinerants in Toulouse, to hit the road to Sibiu together. ( For it 1-2 journeymen are still missing.)
